Currently, the Morning Star Children’s Home uses firewood as cooking fuel. However, wood is expensive, environmentally unfriendly and contributes to chronic health problems due to the smoke. A self-sustaining biogas system takes organic waste (cow manure) and converts it into fuel that can be used for safer, cleaner cooking. Cows would also provide Morning Star’s children with milk, as well as a means to generate income (through milk sales) to sustain the biogas system. Your donation will contribute to the system itself, animals, feed, pens and other materials needed to support the program.
