Program Launch: The Kithoma Welding Skills Project

Project Overview

In response to rising poverty and unemployment among young people in East Africa, the Kithoma Welding Skills Project is creating new opportunities through vocational training and economic empowerment. With support from The Giving Exchange, this initiative aims to provide 50 youth: 25 male and 25 female, ages 17 to 35, with hands-on training in welding and metal fabrication, opening the door to financial independence and community development.

Mission

The Kithoma Welding Skills Project is all about helping young people break the cycle of poverty by learning real, hands-on skills they can use to earn a living. This is the opportunity to give youth the tools, confidence, and support they need to build a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities. In addition to technical training, youth will receive business mentorship, helping them develop financial literacy, business plans, and strategies for growth.

Project Measurements

The impact of the Kithoma Welding Skills Project will be tracked by:

●      The percentage of graduates who secure employment or start businesses
●      The success and longevity of group-led enterprises
●      The practical application of welding skills in local communities
●      Improvements in the socio-economic conditions of graduates and their families

Each item made by Kithoma’s youth represents progress: building skills, creating opportunity, and strengthening their communities.
