The Morning Star Children’s Home traditionally used firewood as cooking fuel, which contributed to chronic health problems due to the smoke. That’s why in summer 2018, we helped this orphanage build a self-sustaining biogas system, which takes organic waste (cow manure) and convert it into fuel that is safer and cleaner for cooking. The cows also provide Morning Star’s children with milk, another means to generate income (through milk sales) to sustain the biogas system.
