Current Projects

The Giving Exchange partners with under-resourced communities to implement self-sustaining projects for a lasting impact.

These projects aim to empower three primary beneficiary groups: Women, Children and Communities. Each of our projects benefit at least one of these groups; most of our projects benefit two or all three of these groups.

Women

Women's economic empowerment is essential for reducing poverty and fostering inclusive economic growth, and female entrepreneurs contribute significantly to job creation and economic growth. Globally, women are twice as likely as men to report experiencing discrimination based on their sex. Investing in women's economic opportunities has the potential to lift entire communities out of poverty. Supporting women-owned businesses not only benefits individual women but also has positive spillover effects on local and national economies.

Children

The Giving Exchange was originally founded to create opportunities for children that they would not otherwise have. The World Bank reports that nearly half of the world's extremely poor are children. In Kenya and Uganda, only Primary (Elementary) School is government-funded; starting in Form 1 (9th grade), families must pay school fees, which is cost prohibitive and a significant worry for 54% of parents. Investing in education can break the cycle of poverty and empower future generations. Other tools to improve a child’s well-being include health and nutrition, access to clean water, access to family planning, and ending child marriage.

Communities

Investing in education and addressing economic disparities within communities is not just a short-term solution; it's a transformative pathway toward uplifting families for generations to come. Oxfam reports that the richest 1% of the global population owns more than twice as much wealth as the poorest 6.9 billion people. By partnering with local community-based organizations (CBOs) and NGOs, The Giving Exchange leverages existing infrastructures and deep community ties. Together, we don't just provide resources; we create sustainable change.
