Day 2 - Morning Star Children’s Home

Welcome to Day 2 of The Giving Exchange's 10-year anniversary celebration!

Today, we’re taking you back to where it all began: Morning Star Children's Home. When our founder, Rod Mickels, first visited the home in 2012, he was deeply moved by the children's resilience, hope, and aspirations for the future. This visit inspired Rod's vision and sowed the seeds for The Giving Exchange.

Since then, your support has helped us build a thriving and self-sustaining community at the home, from home improvements to student sponsorships, a sustainable dairy farm, and biogas production. But don’t take it from us; watch this video to hear it from them...

The Giving Exchange has implemented the following projects with Moring Star since 2013:

• Student sponsorship – education for 12 students through secondary school graduation
• Biogas and dairy production
• Library and books
• Bathhouse
• Kitchen and family room renovations
• School supplies
• New shoes
• New beds
• Computer lab
• Chicken coop

Our deep friendship and working partnership with Reah, her husband Francis, and the children at Morning Star has paved the way for us to implement over 40 other projects with new partners across Kenya. They continue to be a cornerstone of our work and impact.

As we reflect on our impact over the last 10 years, we're reminded that it all starts with providing opportunities for children like those at Morning Star.

By focusing on education, skills, and self-sustaining income, we can create lasting change in their lives and the lives of their families.

That's why we're asking for your help today. Please donate here to help us continue to support the children at Morning Star and other communities like them.

Thank you for being a part of The Giving Exchange community and supporting our mission to make a lasting impact in under-resourced communities around the world.

Come back tomorrow for Day 3: Divine Mercy Children’s Home.
