Divine Mercy Children's Home, nestled in Githunguri Sub-county, Kenya, serves as a sanctuary for infants and toddlers who have experienced abuse, neglect, abandonment, or orphanhood. It is a place where their dreams are reignited, their spirits healed, and their futures reimagined. The resilience and hope radiating from these young souls inspire us every day.
Transforming Lives, One Project at a Time
One of our most impactful projects at Divine Mercy Children's Home has been the donation of three high-grade dairy cows. These cows not only provide nourishing milk for the children but also serve as a source of income for the home. With the sale of milk expected to reach $1,000 USD per month, the revenue generated will help support the home's monthly expenses and build a reserve fund for future needs.
Additionally, this project is a step towards replacing the seven cows and goats lost to the devastating Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak in 2020. Prior to the outbreak, the home relied on milk sales to sustain their operations. With the introduction of these new dairy cows, Divine Mercy Children's Home can continue its mission of providing holistic care and education for the children under its wings.
A Pathway to Self-Sufficiency
The impact of the dairy cow project extends beyond immediate sustenance. The revenue generated not only supports the home but also fuels the growth of the farm, allowing for the purchase of more animals to generate additional income. This self-sustaining approach empowers Divine Mercy Children's Home to create a lasting impact and secure a brighter future for the children in their care.
